Wallkill Man Caught With Hallucinogen, THC In Traffic Stop, Police Say

A man is facing multiple charges after being busted driving while intoxicated with hallucinogens and THC oil in his possession during a routine traffic stop on Route 44.

New York State Police troopers in Highland stopped Wallkill resident Eric Nichol, 37, on Route 44/55 in Lloyd on Monday night for a vehicle and traffic violation. During the subsequent traffic stop, it was determined that Nichol was driving while under the influence of drugs while also in possession of the drugs.

Nichol was arrested at the scene and charged with a felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs, all misdemeanors.

Following arraignment, Nichol was remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail. He is due back in court later this year to answer the charges.
